Got this as a present for my friend that was new to Pokémon and it was great help! Easy to read and helpful tips.

This guide was written for players who are new to Pokemon and/or Pokemon GO!First off, the book is pretty detailed and 144 pages long. It is a 5"x 8" book, so it's more of a pocket guide. It's in full color, with lots of images. If I had to guess, I'd guess there are about 300 images and photos in the book. It definitely is not cheesy.The introduction has a short history of Pokemon and Niantic. The authors then walk you through all menus and screens - explaining what each does. There are tips on how to use Lucky Eggs, Lures, Razz Berries, Manage your Inventory, etc. There are strategies for evolving Pokemon and Attacking Gyms. There's a simple combat chart inside to help newer players understand "Type" strengths and weaknesses in gym battles.The last 50 pages of the book contain a simple Pokedex. The Pokedex has images of all 151 Pokemon, and lists their types, evolutions and a Pokemon battle ranking from 1-5. This is great for newer players and kids.I have picked up a lot of Pojo's Books and Magazines over the last 15-20 years. They are always dependable and good quality. If you are above level 20, you probably won't learn too much here to help you, but it might still a fun collectible for you.

Even though incomplete due to game xpacs, it is still one of the best Pokémon Go books I have purchased... All "Pojo" needs to do is to update the Pokedex to 2018's monsters. After updating it would still be an awesome book, as only one out there that has in depth instructions... Even a 69 year old gamer Grandma figured it out... mostly w/out a book, but had I had access to this book, I wouldn't have to barrage everybody with "dumb" questions. If you want a condensed version of the “must-see” with beautiful visuals and photos of attractions, DK guidebooks are the go to books. If you prefer more history, details, prices, restaurants etc then Lonely Planet, Rough Guides or Frommers are the preferred guides. I used them all - but only keep my DK Guides after my travels cos of the beautiful photos that will never get outdated unlike information in other travel guides.

I think this is organized a bit confusingly. .... locations of restaurants and bars are not all on the same map. Great suggestions throughout; sometimes hard to tell if the list was a top 10 for BOTH QC and Montreal or just for one or the other, as the book contained all of the above. Great time to visit and great source which was up to date. Not keen on the organization of chapters, however.

Terrible! It just lumps Montreal and Quebec City into the same list with no way for the average person (who is not a resident) to figure out which is which and what is what! Very mixed up and poorly organized.

I think DK Travel books are a must for travel. Beautiful pictures and solid informational prose for the attractions of a first time tourist. Slim in volume and essential to finding out what you should not miss.I use them for each destination.

This book was very helpful on my long weekend trip to Montreal--it was especially helpful in narrowing down down which of the hundreds of fantastic restaurants to go to! Totally recommend this book.

When my 11-year-old finished reading this novel, his first statement was, “I LOVED that book!” With an endorsement like that and because it was the first instance where he ‘stopped time,’ I had to read the book too.A copy of the author’s Newbery Medal acceptance speech is at the back of my copy of The One and Only Ivan. In it, the author says,” We live in a world where children are bullied into despair and even suicide; where armed guards in a school hallway are considered desirable; where libraries are padlocked because of budget cuts; where breakfast and backpacks, for too many children are unaffordable luxuries.”“What makes children better than the rest of us is that they are buoyant, unrepentant optimists.”As a writer, reader, and lover of words, I make it a habit to ‘stop time’ whenever I come across sparkling phrases that deserve homage. A ‘stop time’ is where we stop whatever we are doing to read out loud and to listen; we listen to both the author’s words and to what made that phrase so meaningful to the reader.Although my son and I read the same book, our reactions to it were as different as a carefree stroll through the park and being caught in a traffic snarl in the city at rush hour. Where my son delighted in the animal conversations, I sobbed.Pixar uses humor with double meaning brilliantly in their storytelling. Katherine Applegate uses the same technique, but in a more realistic vein.I sobbed because the adult world my son will live in doesn’t have easy answers. It isn’t colorful, silly, and happy all the time. The innocence of his childhood is beginning to seep away.While Ivan and Ruby soothe each other and tell stories to help them sleep, the author communicates the ache of loneliness, coping skills, feeling boxed in, and the power that is found when helping a friend…or your own child.The first ‘stop time’ that my son called happened when Ivan makes an impossible promise to Ruby, the baby elephant.I’ve been waiting and watching for this moment. A maturity level that notices deeper concepts. An opportunity to share family ideals and values. An easing into the world of adulthood – or at least into the turbulent teens.“Children know all about sadness,” comments Applegate in her speech. “We can’t hide it from them. We can only teach them how to cope with its inevitably and to harness their imaginations in search for joy and wonder.”

My 9 year old son could never "get into" a book. But he wanted to, desperately. I found this book and surprised him with it. He was so excited because it was "big" and had more than 100 pages lol. You see, it was a goal of his to read something "big". This book, I can not say enough about it. It sparked something in him and he read, and read, and read some more. He FINISHED this book in one week! He connected with the character (Ivan) and was emotionally pulled into the story. He then had to learn all he could about this gorilla. Because of how my son loved it, he said it was 5 stars.This book was written from the gorilla's (Ivan's) point of view. It is a bigger book, but don't be alarmed as there are not many words on a page as the formatting is not as tight as a traditional novel. But don't let that stop you either!It is now my son's favorite book. Because of that, and what that means, I give it 5 stars.

There are some books that so delight a reader that she just wants to shout it out from the rooftops, READ THIS BOOK! Such is the case with The One and Only Ivan, written by the author Katherine Appelgate, previously unknown to me and now a favorite. At the risk of sounding overly effusive, this book is heartwarming, soul touching, totally engaging, while not being at all overly sentimental. It has elements of distress as well, because it is written with an intelligent, careful realism without being preachy about the rights of animals in this world in which we live.The book is presumably a children's book and I would agree it is such in the same way that The Little Prince is meant for children. What makes a wonderful book even more wonderful is that it contains a few lovely pictures, some drawn by Ivan, the protagonist Gorilla and some drawn by the daughter of the groundskeeper where Ivan and his fellow animal friends reside. I cannot guarantee that you will love The One and Only Ivan, as I did, but if you do, you will remember it forever,

I read the book before I gave it as a Christmas gift to my little nephew. The reading level is appropriate for an average American 3rd grade kid, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well structured the plot is, the beautiful simplicity of the language, and the underlying thread of compassion among all characters big and small. It's the best children's book since EB White's Charlotte's Web.

First, my daughter is a reluctant reader. I am not sure she has ever completely read a novel from front to back in her life. She was required to read a book for a book report in school. I told her to read 50 pages each day; on the second day, she came out of her room after an hour to get a drink and said, "Mom, this book is great! I am on page 150!" After another hour, she came out with a huge smile on her face and said it was the best story she has ever read! As an avid reader myself, I have never understood why she hates to read. Now I know she has just never read the RIGHT book to get her hooked!In addition, I am a 5th grade teacher. In my school, we have daily Book Clubs. I have been reading The One and Only Ivan with my students for 3 years and their reactions are exactly like my daughter's. Katherine Applegate is an amazing author! I love how Ivan, the gorilla, is the narrator; this gives the reader a great inside look into his thoughts and feelings. You easily fall in love with each of the characters and build compassion for each one. I highly recommend this book for any elementary student!

Highly recommended.

Wow, what a great book. Forget about page counts. There is ZERO fluff or filler in this book. I read it in 24 hours which I almost never do with a non-fiction book. Jim does an awesome job laying out his proven to work methods to produce like a full-time author while working a day job and without leaving your family in the lurch. Highly recommended reading for all authors -- even ones who are already full-time authors will benefit. The tips, tactics, and techniques Jim shares can be used by any author to optimize their own methods. If you're serious about becoming a full-time author, then you owe it to yourself to read this book.

The narration of this book was good and lively.The advice that this book provide you might have heard in other places with the exception to the social media info and how to do 4 books a year. the shortest summation of the book is "Sit down make a plan to fit your life, stuck to it and throw in this formula and you can kick out 3 to 4 books a year." but as with any good advice it was a much needed reminder if the advice you have to just do it so do it!I would recommend the book and I plan on getting the social media guide as that is the biggest tool writers need in this now digital age.

Heard Jim on a podcast and was immediately intrigued. As a fellow aspiring author with a full-time job and a family, I was desperate to hear how someone was managing to put out four books a year without professional or familial sacrifice. I got through this quickly, picked up a bunch of good tips and was entertained to boot. Note: if you're not cool with self-discipline, this might not be the book (or potential career) for you.

This book is chock full of concrete specific advice from a seasoned author. I have rarely come across so many useful pieces of advice in one place, especially for the indie author. I got it as an audiobook and enjoyed the teaching-with-humor approach immensely. But I wanted to be able to flip through it and refer back to the many, many specific helpful tips he gives on everything from scheduling, to drafting strategies, to software tools, and more. I bought it in paperback too. Best investment in my own writing yet!Note: I got the audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review. I very happily bought the paperback after that. :)

Great tips and encouragement for anyone who feels they are "too busy" to write. I'm not sure I fully support the long term lifestyle implications of trying to turn yourself into "a perpetual motion fiction machine" but if you're determined to fit more writing into your day, this is an excellent read.

I loved this book because it gave me step-by-step instruction on writing four novels a year, while still having a life other than writing all the time. The book was very informative and the content was well-organized. Jim Haskett has self-published a lot of novels, enough to know what works for him and likely will work for others. I highly recommend The Juggling Author to any novelist needing a plan of action.

Relateable writing style, no filler, and actionable steps to creating a veritable book production line. Quite inspiring, I just hope I can put it all into practice.

I fdidnt even know my child purchased this book but whatever floats his boat is what makes me happy. He loves the blaze e-book, he actually thought it was a game but enclosed up loving it anyway.

Do not waste your money! Worst book ever...only introduces the characters...no story at ALL! So very, very disappointed.

This book is an introduction to the characters and STEM/physics concepts from the eponymous television series, and not a story. So if you're looking for something with a plot, this won't fit the bill. I gleaned that from reading the reviews, but I took a chance since my daughter loves Blaze.The book is pricier than most books from this publisher, but the binding and paper quality is better. Again, the book has no narrative, but it does present the STEM concepts within context of the action of the show and its character's abilities. Given the lack of actual story, I wasn't expecting this to be as popular as it is in our house, but my daughter has begged me to read this multiple times in succession during one story session. Since the book does explain concepts like mass, force, and trajectory in side bars, you can use the book to quiz your child, if you're into that (we are). It's not a book you would read for its fun-value, but it is surprisingly appealing to my preschooler, who loves Blaze and his friends. This is one of those books that reminds me how much the Pre-K set love repetition, and that what seems boring to an adult can still be immensely enjoyable for kids.

Next step up for board books....kids are eager to turn the page so I expect a few torn pages before they are done, but it's time!

Book describing all of the Blaze characters. Great for my 3 years old who is a lot more into the visuals and illustrations.

My grandson just love this truck. He received it for Christmas and according to him it's the best gift ever.

I was disappointed to receive this book and see how few words there were. I was expecting to see a book with multiple stories, or an "encyclopedia"-type feel. Instead, the book is separated into two-page spreads for each main character. On these two large pages, there is one sentence total about the character, and a box including a vocabulary word (aka "force") with a few words of definition. The colors are bright, and the book's larger size is appealing. However, the page count is not any higher than a smaller book, either. I purchased this book as a gift for my nearly five-year-old, and I'm sure he'll like it, but it is much more age-appropriate for my 2.5-year-old, although the "vocab" words are above him.
