An interesting collection of stories from the early days of the H7D3 "Zombie" Plague. None of the stories were as depressing as some in the original "Black Tide Rising" anthology but there were some times reading that I thought"Damn, human beings can be dumb AND greedy." I was a bit disappointed that there were no stories dealing with either Wolf Squadron or any of the main character, though they (Seawolf, Shewolf, Walker) are mentioned in several of the tales.Overall a good read. If you're a fan of the series, as I am, you do need to read the book. I am awaiting the sequel to to "The Valley of Shadows" to learn more of the fate of Thomas Smith and the Bank of the Americas crew. Now I just have to make it till July 2nd.............................

...just kidding, sorta...there was a full length novel in every one of the stories and I...BY...GOD...WANT...TO...READ...THEM!!!!Thank you all for your stellar contributions to John Ringo's most recent Universe, especially Sarah Hoyt and Jodie Lynn Nye...that being said the rest of them rocked it as well...thanks guys great read, bless your hearts and thank you all for sharing your talent.

I found this much more readable and interesting than the previous anthology, and liked ALL of the stories. I look forward to some of them perhaps becoming full books/series at some point. These stories are more reminiscent of the older science fiction anthologies that shared so many classics with us. Ray Bradbury would have been right at home here.

First, let me say that I am a big John Ringo fan, and an even bigger fan of Black Tide Rising series, but in my opinion, the stories in this book are not up to the standards of either the novels or the previous anthology (with a couple exceptions).These stories just didn't connect with me, not sure why. Maybe i wanted a continuation of the adventures of the characters in the novels as opposed to snapshots of strangers. It might also be because i am tired of the "zombie victim" mentality present in many of these stories. In the Black Tide Rising novels, they take the initiative against the zombies, freeing up people and building a community again.They remember that we are at the top of the food chain for a reason. For me, that's a more fun story to read. It's one big reason i like Ringo's take on the zombie apocalypse. Instead of just hanging on by their teeth or just trying to survive until "help" arrives, Ringo's characters take the offensive, and bring the war to the zombies, freeing up other survivors along the way, and starting to rebuild civilization.just my two cents

Been a huge fan of the author and this series for ages. Was thrilled when three new books hit the market in a short time. This collection is a good expansion, with stories covering the fall and decades later. I HATED the story set in Tibet. It read like a dime novel SciFi story that was already completed, then edited for a vague tie-in the to the plague. The entire concept did not fit. The technology did not fit. The second story was also a total reach, but at least was true to the past books.There's plenty of mentions of She and Sea Wolf, and the short concerning NASA and the Dragon capsule was a great backstory.If you're a fan of the series, yea, get the book. If you've never read the series, read the series. READ IT. Then get this book.

I love seeing other authors writing in another author's universe. It gives so much more to the storyline to see other perspectives of the main storyline.

Ringo created a very believable zombie apocalypse, and this collection gives us more stories in it. Ringo is one of only 2 authors I pre-order in hardcover, because he is unfailingly entertaining. The other authors in this collection also did great crafting more tales of "the Fall".

This grouping of tales fills out questions and gaps in the Black Tide Rising series. Yes, people are surviving all over the world, come and read about it! BTR is about survival and family, not calamity.

I remember falling flat on the ice all too many times, not to mention worrying about not being good enough."Snowman Paul and Kate's Olympic Dream" is also just the kind of book I loved to read aloud to my students as a classroom teacher. Katie is the perfect role model for any young child who needs encouragement to give it just one more try. Dan and Paul model the kind of support we all would like from our friends. Lapid ties it all together with delightful rhymes and a fast-moving story. Pasek's illustrations are whimsical and appealing.In short, I can't recommend Snowman Paul and Kate's Olympic Dream highly enough. Buy it, read it, and enjoy it with your favorite young 'uns. You'll be glad you did.

I love the illustrations in the book. They are so eye-catching and beautiful. The story was sweet. My kids picked up on Dan's disappointment at the beginning and his helpfulness in the story. I enjoyed the rhythm of the story, Kate's determination and the kindness of Dan and Snowman Paul. I recommend this story to those the read to young kids.

The Snowman Paul books are beautifully illustrated, and this one is particularity timely with the Winter Olympics happening now. The story has a positive message about pursuing your dream.

Fun story.

This is a book all about friendship. Snowman Paul, Dan and Kate work together for Kate's dream. Yossi Lapid makes the story easy for the child to understand and the rhyming is an.added bonus. The illustrations are breathtaking. Snowman Paul loves the Olympics and helps his friend Kate. Kate asks Snowman Paul if he would help her win the Olympics in skating. Dan asked him the same. Snowman Paul said Kate first and then Dan. Dan helped with her training. They worked on her jumps and her speed. She got upset and did not want to go on. "No, Kate, you've got just what it takes..." Does she listen? Does she go to the Olympics ? You get the fun of reading to find out. Yipee!! I was gifted this book for an honest review.

I received a copy from the author for an honest review.It's the perfect gift for the Olympic Games' lover. The collection related to the theme adds this precious item to the well-known work of‎Joanna Pasek's art and Yosef Lapid's exemplary rhyming. Like the Halloween and Christmas volumes before, this one shows us again the amazing artistry, dedication to each spread and transports us immediately with movement and grace to the magic of ice skating. I actually wished I could frame some of her spreads.Now the other magic. This is the proof that less is more, and that less is by no means simple. Snowman Paul teaches more than Kate to skate. There's a valuable lesson on how to accept a challenge and take a chore to the end and be rewarded for your hard work with help and support of those who understand and love us.

I love all of the books in the Snowman Paul series, and this one is no exception. In this story, Snowman Paul and his friend, Dan team up to help Kate improve her skating skills. In order to succeed, Kate must work patiently on her jumps and speed. Dan and Paul are wonderful coaches, working hard to prepare Kate for her first skating competition. As always, the illustrations are extraordinary, and the story shares valuable messages young children will appreciate. Now with the release of the live-action movie trilogy, virtually all the Tolkien-related books are being pulled off the shelves and rereleased -- this among them. It's a good, insightful collection of essays, but there's something vital missing...It's a compilation of essays, by various people. Among them are Bonniejean Christensen'sstudy of Gollum in "The Hobbit" -- there were two versions of the "Riddles in the Dark"chapter; Walter Scheps's "Fairy-Tale Morality of Lord of the Rings," which studies the ethicsof Tolkien's trilogy as well as traditional fairy-tales; Agnes Perkins and Helen Hill's essay onpower, corruption, the lust for power, and the One Ring; Deborah C. Rogers's study ofhumanity both in the "everyman" hobbits and in the noble Aragorn; Robert Plank's study ofthe Scouring of the Shire and how it reflects fascism; and several others. On the downside, Dorothy Matthews' "The Psychological Journey of Bilbo Baggins" is okay, but rather off-balance because it explains a hobbit's mind in complex jargon -- those don't go together.But there is a major problem. I was fortunate enough to find a first-edition paperback of this book, from the 1970s, and the last part of it is a special meaning and pronunciation guide by J.R.R. Tolkien himself. It's a wonderful bonus, and worth the price of the book alone. But for some reason, the chapter has been removed from the reprinted "Tolkien Compass." It's just essays, no Tolkien -- I'm not sure why it was removed, but it was."Tolkien Compass" is a good collection of scholarly essays on various facets of Tolkien'swork, which aren't dumbed down but also aren't too hard to understand. If the extra guide chapter had been included, this would have been a reissued treasure. As it is, it seems very incomplete.

The information is acceptable but it is more of a pamphlet than a book. There is nothing in this book that cannot be found in five minutes via the internet.

The quality of the book is exactly as described. There are highlights in the text done by the previous owner but the cover and pages are in very good condition.

It explained what naturopathy is and how it works. I really like that he described hydrotherapy and tells how to do it to help heal bruises, cuts, lacerations, etc... I used it on my husband and it worked wonderfully. This book is a definite buy!
