What makes your book different from other Bible storybooks? Some Bible storybooks miss the meaning of individual passages because they focus on the big picture. Even more often toddler story books miss unifying biblical themes because they're focused re-telling individual stories. A few Bible storybooks--like the ones by Marty Machowski and Sally Lloyd-Jones--do both well, but they aren't geared toward early readers. That's what makes this book different. Through the faithful re-telling of key stories, toddlers and early preschoolers will hear the good news of God's love for them clearly expressed in ways that will speak to their young hearts.What led you to want to write a Bible storybook for toddlers and first readers? As I said above, there are a number of excellent gospel-centered resources for young children--great story books and curriculum, but few of them focus on toddlers and first readers. When teaching this age group, I found myself reaching back to resources from the seventies and eighties--storybooks by Ella Lindvall and Ken Taylor. I saw a need, and I wanted to provide a more contemporary resource for ages two to five.Can children that young really learn the gospel? Yes. Jesus said, "Let the children come to me." I bought this to read to my four-year-old granddaughter, and overall I'm pleased. There are a few things I wish were different. The first thing I noticed was that the creation account lacked order. Children of this age are capable of understanding first day, second day, and third day, etc., and the manner in which God created the world has a definite logical order. The creation account is given in a haphazard way which doesn't reflect logical order. The second thing I noticed was that Adam and Eve are illustrated as being covered by leaves prior to any account of the eating of the fruit. Part of the Gospel is that shame came following the fall, so I wish that the illustrator had chosen to illustrate the pre-fall Adam and Eve in a way in which reflected the lack of shame prior to the fall. I'm not saying that the illustration should be graphic, but other illustrators have certainly found creative ways to illustrate Adam and Eve without being untrue to the Gospel. In a similar way that the creation is conveyed in a disorderly and fragmented way, the ten plagues of Egypt are also. I believe kids of this age benefit by learning the order and are capable of doing so.Having listed those three things, I have to say that my granddaughter loved this Bible and especially loved the questions each lesson asks. She was captivated by the colorful illustrations and was eager for me to turn each page. (Okay, she actually kept trying to turn to the next page while I was finishing up the one before.) She stayed engaged in a way that she does not always with other books.The accounts of the biblical characters are well done, and the author invites children to apply what they learn in each lesson to their own lives by asking questions at the end of each segment. I wondered when the author gave the account of the lamb's blood on the doors to save God's people from the plague of death to firstborn sons whether this would have been described more accurately as God's promise to save rather than God's promise to forgive. I see the lamb's blood as the way of salvation and haven't seen scripturally where the the Hebrews were asking for forgiveness nor God mentioning it when they obediently painted the lamb's blood around their doors. I need deeper study on this. The author does effectively turn to how Jesus is the lamb by which we can be forgiven today.I must confess that a) I'm a stickler for accuracy, if you haven't noticed; b) I have yet to encounter a small child's Bible with which I am completely satisfied; and c) my granddaughter's visit ended after the story of the twelve spies. I look forward to continuing the rest of this Bible with her upon her return!

More age-appropriate for toddlers than The Jesus Storybook Bible (which is amazing in its own regard) with beautiful illustrations and graphics used to communicate the gospel-messages in Bible stories. We also love the question presented at the end of each story to engage small conversations with our daughter. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful, well-written, and gospel-centered Bible for their little ones.

I was looking for something beyond the Children's Storybook Bible to cover a broader swath of the Bible, still written in "children's language" (our children are currently 6 and 4), appealing to them - bright colors, good questions/interactions at the end of each story. Each story is 4-8 pages (probably averages 2 page turns per story, it seems). The stories that are selected for the most part make sense, either that they are relateable to children, or fit into the historical narrative easily. I was a bit surprised by Jesus turning water into wine (not grape juice)! But in all a g great storybook Bible, love the stories, illustrations, questions, and manner in which the stories are told.

This is a wonderful Bible for young children. The book is very sturdy and colorful. Each Bible story is expressed clearly for young children to understand. There a thoughtful comments and questions following each lesson. The content is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. The only criticism I have is minor. Some of the illustrations look modern rather than in keeping with the time period they are representing. I use this Bible and The Toddlers Beginner Bible for my toddler Sunday school class.

and calls it "My Bible". She wants us to read it to her all the time. I especially appreciate the way it continually points to Jesus in the stories from Adam and Eve on.

This is the best book I have ever seen for teaching the Bible to little ones.

About the Author

JOHN BUNYAN (1628-1688) was a Puritan preacher and writer in England. Bunyan had very little schooling. He followed his father in the tinker's trade, and served in the parliamentary army from 1644 to 1647. In 1655, Bunyan became a deacon and began preaching. He experienced marked success from the start and was the pastor of the Bedford church.Bunyan is the author of The Pilgrim's Progress which he wrote in 1676 while imprisoned for preaching without a license. His numerous other titles include Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners and Holy War.DR. ROSALIE DE ROSSET is a professor of Literature, English and Homiletics at Moody Bible Institute where she has been for forty-two years. She earned her M.A. in English from Northeastern Illinois University, M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Rhetoric from The University of Illinois at Chicago. I love this book, it is a classic and well worth the read whether you consider yourself a "christian" or not, so when I saw this version for 99¢, including the audio narration, I was thrilled and purchased it right away. Then I started to read it, in the prologue there is a note from some priest who has taken it upon himself to pare down the book by removing all of the "sermons" that he believes slow the story down. While that is fine for some people who may prefer this pared down version, it should be advertised up front as "abridged", which it is not. Had I known I was getting a much less meaningful version of the book, I would never have purchased it, which is why I rated it as 1 star.

Pilgrim's Progress is a classic that is just as powerful today as it was when it was first written in 1678. If you are like me though, you have struggled with the reading of this beloved book. The way we speak now has changed a lot through the years and sometimes picking up a book from a different time period can be challenging to read.I am excited to tell you about the new publication of Pilgrim's Progress. It is updated, in Modern English, but still has the original illustrations. This made such a huge difference for me. What an enjoyable read it was! I did find myself, especially at the beginning, comparing it to the original text. I wanted to see for myself how much it was changed and amazingly, very little. It's tweaked just enough to make it easy to read for today's readers.Another very unique feature about this new publication is the Bible verses that are added to the text. I'm not talking about just a Bible reference either. Entire verses including where they are found in the Bible are throughout the whole book. For example:In my dream, I saw a man clothed with rags standing in a certain place, with his face turned from his own house. In his hand he held a book, and he bore a great burden upon his back. (For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. -Psalm 38:4)This was such an amazing aspect for me. It enriched the reading in such a spiritual way. I applaud whoever came up with the idea to do this. I'm sure it took a lot of work and study, but it was well worth it.Pilgrim's Progress is not a quick read. It is something to be savored. To be meditated upon. I found myself reading some of the lines/paragraphs more than once. Then I would sit and close my eyes and think on it. If you allow it, it can speak volumes to your heart. What an encouragement for the Child of God! I would highly recommend reading this account of Pilgrim's Progress and feel your life will be enriched deeply in doing so.***This book was provided to me by Aneko Press in exchange for my honest review.

It should have been CLEARLY noted in the listing and description that this is NOT the original book. It is EDITED heavily by Rev. Jesse Lyman Hurlbut to "change the words here and there to simpler ones, and to OMIT ALL the conversations and arguments concerning subjects belonging to the field of doctrine." While a children's book would need simplifying, the listing is for the original ADULT book, so I'm really annoyed at this poorly listed item. The original is a true classic with SO MUCH for all of us to learn in regard to walking with God.

This is a great story with a picture on every page! It is an allegorical story following the character named Christian. Christian meets lots of people along his way to try to get rid of the burden on his back representing his sin. He cannot remove the burden on his own. Some people lead him astray and some people point him back to the right path towards Jesus and Salvation. Christian eventually reaches the cross and gives his life to Jesus. Jesus forgives his sins and the burden falls off his back into a bottomless pit and he is made new with a new identity in Christ! That is only the beginning of the story however and Christian goes on to learn what it means to live a life for God. He also eventually equips himself with the armor of God. It's a great story and one I recommend to every parent with young children! When my mother read this to me at 4 years old I gave my heart to Jesus. When Christian reached the cross I told my mom, "Mommy I want to give my burden to jesus too!" I pray this story will continue to share the gospel with many more people for years to come!

Dear Reader, I hope you are a film fan, and that you are curious about the world of illusion that stunt players create for you. In my days and nights on sets, I rubbed elbows with the greats and the aspiring unknowns, along with the incredible crews and creators who make it all possible. Here are a few of my stories. I have found, as I travel the world over, that a stunt person can strike up a conversation anywhere we go. Our stories are sometimes amusing, fluffy little things and sometimes deeply tragic. And they are always biased. Over the years, some become like "fish stories," morphing into something greater than they were.Other stories reveal little lessons we learned along the way. And sometimes, like mine, our stories are those of survivors who fight daily to live normal lives in the aftermath.If you aren't familiar with movie-set terms, I have written Dalton's Dictionary to help you understand the stories. It is definitely biased. Similarly, the SCENE descriptions are purely from memory and are not intended to represent actual script excerpts. I hope you have fun with the crossword puzzle at the end with clues throughout the book.I am occasionally prone to poems, weird as that may be. They pop up every once in a while. You can easily skip them if they aren't your thing. A poem is risky for an author to do, yet stunt folks are always willing to risk, though we are not thrill seekers. We are, first and foremost, athletic artists working with skill, scientific precision and calculations.The tales here cover a very special part of my forty-year career in entertainment, sometimes slipping in some key aspects of my larger aspirations toward Acting. I just started reading this book and I can't put it down! I did a little bit of acting and stunt work a long time ago and this is bringing it all back...Great read...would highly recommend!

Lisa is a sorority sister of mine, and it was a pleasure to read how interesting her life has been working with the stars, being so courageous!

A good read for people interested in the backstory of film making.

It was so fun to read about all the stars and how she coped with changes so positively without falling into self pity

I was excited by the title but was left disappointed. While there were numerous stories of the movies stars Lisa had the chance to work with, the stories fell short. The bit of the crossroad puzzle was confusing. The lessons learned were not always inspiring or relative. It seemed Lisa was trying to be cute with her lessons. The writing was mediocre at best. And the format of my Kindle book was awful with breaks in the middle of the sentence.

About the Author

Will Hall, MA, DiplPW is a counselor, teacher, writer, and community development worker. Active during the University of California anti- apartheid movement, he went on to work for the Santa Cruz Resource Center for Nonviolence and the Earth Island Institute. In his 20s he was forcibly committed to San Francisco’s public mental health system, and, while in the locked unit at Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute, he was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder schizophrenia and put on disability. He became a leading psychiatric survivor organizer, including host of Madness Radio, co-founder of Freedom Center and Portland Hearing Voices, and a co-coordinator of The Icarus Project, and he is author of the Harm Reduction Guide to Coming Off Psychiatric Drugs, translated into 15 languages. For his work Will has received the Judi Chamberlin Advocacy award, the Portland Oregon Open Minds award, and the Stavros Center for Independent Living Disability Advocacy award. “When I was growing up, I wanted to be a magician. This is a brilliant, simply extraordinary book. Will Hall's worldviews regarding mental health suffering, wholeness, recovery, and thriving are seminal and next-paradigm. I am recommending this book to people in the peer/recovery movement all over the country. Run don't walk and buy this glorious collection of voices from the social justice movement in mental health. I am so grateful to Will for his work of the last decade: he is helping to save the world, one brilliant, vulnerable, powerful human being at a time.

I did not expect to feel the way I did about this book: when I began to read it I quickly realized that it shared the voices of people I had desperately needed to hear. I appreciated the diversity of experience and opinion represented in these interviews and essays, and was especially moved by the essays written personally by Will Hall. Someone I love has lived with a schizophrenia diagnosis for many years. Having been a witness to this experience from its inception, and having had to negotiate my own way through it, I am now waking up to different perspectives. Over the years I have seen the ways in which the medical model has failed us, despite the dedication, skill and best intentions of the medical professionals we have encountered, and despite the help of psychiatric medication that is sometimes needed. This book offers thoughtful reflections on experiences of reality that are too often dismissed as symptoms of mental illness. It is a gift to those who would not otherwise be exposed to views outside of the conventional mental health paradigm, and that includes most of us, particularly in the USA. I am deeply grateful to Will Hall for this book and for his work as an advocate, educator, and therapist. We need these voices and visions in communities everywhere.

This is a really great book. It brings to light many issues with our current psychiatric system, including forced institutionalization and medications and medical abuse. But it is a hopeful book - it makes me feel like there is definite hope for recovery and that it is possible to live a good life while struggling with extreme or altered states (usually called psychosis).

I desperately wish I and my family had this book when I was diagnosed Bipolar (ne manic-depressive) in 1989. Now an expert by experience in psychosis and in the medical model of mental illness, I have been on meds for my entire adult life. Nobody went to bat for my visions and experiences, they were always something to be fixed. Until now.Mr. Hall has assembled an important collection of essays and short histories which argue fiercely for a more modern and humane approach to mental crisis. His personal journey and journalism acumen both usher a wide range of perspectives into a coherent whole. From dissenting Big Pharma insiders like Gary Greenberg and Robert Whitaker to pioneering voices researcher Eleanor Longden, from short poignant vignettes of oppression to inspiring examples like Finland's Open Dialogue success, Outside Mental Health gives me language and support for arguments I have wanted to make with my doctors and family but never been able to.I've studied "mental illness" and consensus mental health for twenty-five years. Given these realities, the field of what constitutes accepted parameters of sanity becomes quite fascinating as it really delves into time, place, intersectionality, politics, psychotropic drug policies, economic motivations, family dynamics, allopathic medicine, sociology, psychology, and more. I own the 4th edition along with this book to help me inventory my collection - I do notice some small errors in the book that I will contact the publisher about. BUT - for the money you can't get much better - THOUSANDS of photos, MASSIVE inventory old and new - pages are think, good quality allowing a red sharpie marker for checking your inventory in the book. Prices are fair and accurate. Images are clear and book we well made. If you have a very large collection this is a fantastic guide ( multiple editions combined are helpful )

Take this book with me when I go looking for figure I am missing- Great descriptions of the variances of the figurines and toys.

This is a valuable resource to any collector with a comprehensive collection of information.It needs a good technical proofreading and formatting check but it doesn't take away from the information.
